GIGO (Garbage in,Garbage out)

This is a principle used by computers.What  you fill your computer with,is what you will get out of it and this principle applies in our own lives.

If we spend time watching movies/series(es) that are against God’s Word and are not “pure,true,honest”(Philippians 4:8),if we spend our time listening to muaic that encourages us to yield to the flesh and encourage us to be led by emotions rather than principles defined by God’s word,if we spend time looking at that which does not please God and if we spend time conversing on topics that are not uplifting,then our spiritual life will suffer.Jesus tells us to remove our eyes/ears/hands from anything that seperates us from him.

We are what we read,listen to,watch and think.The Word of God tells us:”as man thinketh,so is he”(Proverbs 23:7).This verse implies that our thoughts reflect who we are.What is it that you spend more time thinking about?Is it God and how you can please Him?Do you spend time thinking about how you can serve others or you are forever absorbed about your own wants that you forget to thank God for the blessings in your life?

The reality is:we can never be like Christ,if we spend little time in the word of God and in prayer.The Bible tells us Jesus woke up very early in the morning to pray (Mark 1:35) and we know that He knew the Scriptures (Matthew 4).God calls us to holiness,through his grace,but how can we be holy,if we do not know His word and we do not ask Him for strength?
We struggle with sin because we do not know the Word of God.It is through reading God's word that we become changed into His likenessIf we spent time with God and His Word,we would be able to remember a verse when tempted and we’ll be able to claim those promises.Like any relationship,our relationship with God needs to be cultivated.We need to spend time with God to know Him and to love,it does not happen spontaneously.
I’ve come to realize that our love for God can be measured in the first thing we do in the morning and how much time we spend in prayer and in God’s Word.

"There is no time or place in which it is inappropriate to offer up a petition to God. There is nothing that can prevent us from lifting up our hearts in the spirit of earnest prayer. In the crowds of the street, in the midst of a business engagement, we may send up a petition to God and plead for divine guidance, as did Nehemiah when he made his request before King Artaxerxes. A closet of communion may be found wherever we are. We should have the door of the heart open continually and our invitation going up that Jesus may come and abide as a heavenly guest in the soul.
Although there may be a tainted, corrupted atmosphere around us, we need not breathe its miasma, but may live in the pure air of heaven. We may close every door to impure imaginings and unholy thoughts by lifting the soul into the presence of God through sincere prayer. Those whose hearts are open to receive the support and blessing of God will walk in a holier atmosphere than that of earth and will have constant communion with heaven." {SC 99.2}
