Perharphs I need the attitude of Capetonians

They have  an uncaring attitude towards life.At least the ones I see in the trains.

Some jump through the door to the other side of the railway, what if a train were to just appear?

There are also instances whereby people would go through one door to the train next to  theirs, because they don't want to miss it;even if one was going to come in a few minutes' time. They are always in a hurry.

But one thing I can never understand is when people going to Bellville stand directly at the door and you have to get out. There was a certain instance where I had to push through them and my bag was left inside and I had to go back inside again.Funny part is,the train waits for 10-15 minutes before leaving.

But through all of this,I have learnt that I need this attitude in my Christianity. To give myself fearlessly and unreserved to the cause of God. To not love my life unto death.Sometimes we're so focused on preservation of life such that we're not willing to live for God!Now I'm not saying we must act on presumption;but we need to let God be the One who preserves our lives, after all,He's the source of it.

I believe if you and I were so fired up on doing the will of God,not willing to miss on eternal life, then it would make a huge difference in our lives-lives consecrated to God,daily, hourly, eternally.

Lessons from travelling by train

Before I get into the lessons I've learnt from blog,I must admit,I really enjoy travelling by train. It's one of the things I really miss about Cape Town.It brings much peace to me.It's my time to meditate on certain things and just view the beautiful creation of God-inside the train and outside.

Travelling by train has brought funny experiences as I look back.I remember this one time I was visiting a friend in some part of Cape Town. And when I got to the exit,I couldn't find my ticket.I was scared,so I ended up going,as I thought you pay R40.

Then the other time, while visiting the same friend,I got on the next stop instead of dropping off on the one before it.And guess what?I thought I could probably walk back by foot, hahaha but I ended up going home since I was scared and it was far anyway.

Getting off the wrong stop made me to be vigilant and I always prefer sitting by the window so that I check all the train stations we pass.In fact,I refuse to sit down.I prefer standing by the door. And I now even calculate the number of stops we pass,so I can know if I've arrived to my destination, just to be safe.I know it's a bit extreme, but I enjoy it.

But this experience also has a spiritual application.When you've fallen into a certain sin,you must reflect on how you got there in the first place.Then you are to guard against everything that might lead you to fall into the same sin.The verse below explain it clearly;

2 Corinthians 7:11King James Version (KJV)

11 For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.

Then yesterday I missed a train.I was 10 minutes away from reaching it and I just watched it leave me.But atleast another one followed after 30 minutes,so not bad at all :).

The whole thing of missing a train made me think about losing eternal life. There's nothing you can do about it and you just see it passing. In my case,I could get a train again. But you cannot get another chance if you lose eternal life.

In every area of life,God speaks to us!

Object lesson from typos

I love writing! It's something I do on a daily basis and I often have to resist the urge of writing more than 3 blog posts in one day-that's how much I enjoy it;plus I feel like I express myself well in writing as compared to speaking.I find writing therapeutic but I often dread doing a spell check or reading what I've written  all over again to avoid errors. But I now realize that I need to due to many typos I've written ( of which I'm truly sorry) and lest I confuse you dear readers. Also my heart almost breaks when I find out I have some typos-love perfection!Plus,we're commanded not 'to be slothful in business' and I believe the principle applies even here, since the end goal of my blog posts is to lift up Christ and are commanded to do everything 'unto the Lord'.

The thing about typing errors is some people might get that you've made a mistake and we'll be able to get what you're saying but there'll be another class that will get confused or who may even think your typo is actually correct. And the unfortunate thing is,even if you go and edit the blog posts afterwards-like I usually do,they might never read the blog post again.

This is teaching me that we(I) need to be very mindful of what we say or whatever we do,because once it is said/done,it cannot be taken back and it will exert an influence for good or for evil. And the thing that saddens me is: we Christians tend to be a little care free on social media and for some reason we say things or put pics that aren't a good representation of  God.And sadly, once you've said it/posted that pic, even if you remove it,a soul will be influenced.Hence,it is better to refrain from being active on social media if you're going through something and pray about it rather.

As much as we are being pruned and we're still learning,we need to be always mindful that there are those who are looking at everything we do and through our conduct we are gathering or scattering.Like it is vital to do a spelling check and proof read an essay or any written work that is to be read by others,we need to allow the Holy Spirit to proof read all that we do and we need to listen to him.If he tells us not to write a certain status or post a certain pic, then we shouldn't,lest we gain followers in wrongdoing.

We also need to be acquainted with God's word so that we can measure all that we do and say against it.After all, whether we like it or not, everything we do,as small as it may seem, has an influence to lead people to God or otherwise. And we are all accountable for the influence we exert.

Thankful Wednesday: the good men that I cross paths with

I love my job because I get to meet people from different walks of life. There's been one elderly man who has become a father figure to...
